Swellendam – the perfect location for Cycling Events

Surrounded by the Langeberg mountain range and rolling wheat lands of the Overberg, the town of Swellendam is the perfect location for mountain bike and road cycling events, situated on the N2, approximately 220 kilometres from Cape Town and George.

Cycling events in the area generate a influx of cyclists into Swellendam and creates the unique opportunity for cyclist to experience the beauty of the region – with more than 50 provincial heritage sites, over 200 bird species, endangered bontebok, alongside Cape Mountain Zebra, bushbuck, Grey Rhebuck, Cape Grysbok, baboon, mongoose, genet, and the occasional leopard.

The third oldest town in South Africa will play host to the 1-day edition of the Chas Everitt Around The Pot – Overberg 100Miler – Presented by SEESA on 20 July 2019, followed by the 3-day Langeberg Link MTB in September, the Rainmaker RollerCoaster in October and South Africa’s premier endurance road cycling event, the Coronation Double Century in November.
