Robertson Winery is happy to bring you the 13th edition of our Wacky Wine Weekend MTB on Saturday, 8 June 2019. The Event will start and finish on the same premises as where Robertson Winery will host all their Wacky Wine activities.
All the riders can look forward to a scenic ride through the vineyards over undulating hills in the Robertson Valley, giving riders access to areas only available for this event. There is more than enough to challenge the riders on the two longest routes – so be prepared.
The 11 km route consist mostly of vineyard tracks. Riders can look forward to passing through underneath a tar road, crossing a bridge and 1 km of single track.
The first half of the 29 km route is a pleasant ride through vineyard that becomes more technical after the first water point. Riders will cross the old Gorheeshoogte pass and then a jeep track climb is followed by an enjoyable single track. The rest of the ride is mostly jeep track. Riders need some basic technical skills to tackle this ride.
The 61 km route is for the serious riders that like a challenge. After the first 15 km of jeep track, the ride gets more technical. Making for a easier ride, some of the climbs from the 2017 route was left out. The Fat Bastard climb from last year becomes a downhill this time round.
All three routes are opened exclusively for this event. This fun ride forms part of the Wacky Wine Festival in Robertson. Each participant older than 18 will receive a bottle of Robertson Winery wine or Robertson Winery Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine and a medal upon completion. Participants younger that 18 will receive a bottle of Robertson Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine. All children U/12 must be accompanied by an adult.
