Route set for Western Cape Road and Time Trial Championships

The Western Cape Road and Time Trial Championships will take place on 5-6 January 2019. Eden Cycling will host the event to take place in De Rust, near Oudtshoorn. The event will be held under UCI and Cycling SA rules.

The venue for the race will be located at the Tante Maria Padstal near the Stompdrift dam with all the routes in the direction of Uniondale and back. The road race will take place on the Saturday, 5 January and the individual Time Trial on Sunday, 6 January. This route has not been used for a road race in recent times and is undulating with 1800m accent for the 147km route which the elites will participated in.

Road Race: Elite Men and U/23 will ride a distance of 147km, while the Elite ladies, junior men, Vet 30+ (M&L), Vet 40+ men will take on the 111km route. The Vet 40+ ladies, U/15 boys, U/17 boys and girls, junior ladies, Vet 50+ (M&L) and Vet 60+ Male will ride 56km, while the U/15 girls, U/11 boys and girls, U/13 boys and girls, Vet 60+ ladies will take on the 26km distance.

Time Trial: Elite men, U/23 and junior men and elite ladies will ride the distance of 38km. U/17 boys, Vet men 30-49, junior ladies, Vet ladies 30-44 will take on the 19km route, while U/15 girls, U/13 boys, U/13 girls and U/11 boys and girls will ride the 10km individual time trial.

Each category winner in the road race and time trial will receive a floating trophy and jersey (rider to order and pay own jersey).

Manual entries for the road race will be available at registration on Friday, 4 January 2018 at Tante Maria Padstal. No late entries for the Time Trial will be accepted.

Entries will close on 31 December 2018.
