As many of you may know, the devastating fires of 3 January 2017 have destroyed more than 90% of trails, and caused millions in damages to the trails and obstacles at the True Grit Bike Park, located at the Knorhoek Estate in Sir Lowry’s Pass.
As a result, the True Grit Bike Park had to refocus, and make some difficult decisions with regard to their losses. They had relinquished their much loved external trails, and instead concentrated all their energy on rebuilding the Blue Route, the Kiddies Route and the establishment of a new YBike Kiddies Skills Circuit, with limited resources at their disposal.
As the Blue Route is not safe for cycling, the aim of True Grit Bike Park is to introduce a Fire Run series over the four Sundays in February, commencing on 5 February with a Walk/Run event that will stretch over 5km on the Blue Route to generate income to keep their doors open, and to rebuild what was lost in the fire.
The new YBike Kiddies Skills Track will be launched on 5 of February at True Grid Bike Park Fire Run. It will be the first specifically designed and built Kiddies Skills Track for 1 – 5 year olds in the Helderberg.
This facility will be fenced in to keep the kiddies safe, while mom and dad relax at the coffee bar. There will be a picnic spot with shading and green grass inside the Skills Track so moms and dads can relax, while they watch their little ones.
Food stalls will be available, while a Jumping Castle and a Slippy Slide will be set up to entertain the Kiddies.
“Come join us for our very first Park Run the Fire Run, on Sunday the 5th of February 2017.” Entries are limited therefore, booking is essential.
