Currently in its 3rd year, the organisers of the Fedhealth MTB Challenge are pleased to announce that the 2017 event to take place from 16-17 September 2017 is sanctioned by Cycling SA.
“Not only will the Fedhealth MTB Challenge boast with a new venue in 2017, but mountain bikers will now also be able to compete for Regional Colours,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “Entrants are encouraged to give their all, while family members and friends are invited to show their support. We look forward to a weekend of exciting mountain biking at the picturesque Boschendal Wine Estate.”
According to Shani Morton, Western Cape MTB Commissioner and Chairperson of the Western Province MTB Commission, there are various criteria that need to be met before an event can be sanctioned. “By meeting all the criteria the riders that enter the event can enjoy various benefits including: assurance that enough marshals are stationed on route to ensure the safety of riders and spectators as well as the appointment of a Chief Commissaire that will be responsible for the overall competition.”
“The Fedhealth MTB Challenge is a well organised event that caters both for cyclists and spectators alike,” continues Morton. “Cyclists are treated to fantastic MTB trails that are tough but rewarding, while spectators can enjoy the day in the race village with live music and lots to eat and drink. The prize-giving is very well organised and the podium winners are well rewarded. The Fedhealth members have the added benefit of free entry to the races. We are proud to be associated with an event of this stature and look forward to a memorable MTB experience in September.”
Important Notice: No individual can qualify for regional colours without a Cycling South Africa (CSA) license. Juniors and Elites are required to have domestic racing licenses. Any rider who wishes to be eligible for colours will be required to register before the extended date of 30 September 2017 and pay a registration fee of R100.
