The Darling ttu 24-hour Enduro that takes place from 30 September – 1 October 2017 at the !Khwa ttu game reserve near Darling – home to a large variety of bird, animal and plant species. The challenge is to endure 24 hours of riding on a fast purpose-built single track, whilst withstanding the attractions of a 24 hour braai fire, beer tent, live music and much more.
The route includes 10 kilometres of beautiful, purpose-built with varied single track that follows the herds of game, pass several waterholes, bird hides and even a replica traditional San village. The thrilling route offers excellent views and amazing game encounters. Darling ttu 24-hour Enduro is for the adventurer who wants more than just riding on gravel roads and Jeep tracks. The terrain changes from striking rocky out crops and indigenous vegetation to a large plateau with spectacular views, green wheat fields and long climbs!
People who ride 24-hour events do it for themselves; it can become a massive physical challenge that slams your fitness goals. It is a way to ask the body to push to new limits, but this is a race where you always finish with a smile.
24-hour racing is a blast, especially as darkness falls and you can smell the braai fires against a backdrop of the spectacular West Coast sunsets. Some riders stayed out riding all night, others enjoy themselves sharing stories, but the time keepers never sleep. The Darling ttu uses a tag clipcard attached to your bike, and wide-awake time-keepers clip and record each lap. Riders can at all times check their laps.
The Darling ttu provides for young and novice, as well as experienced and professional riders and encourages participation by the whole family. The on site restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch daily.
Delicious homemade food, cool drinks, local craft beer and wine of the area will be on sale, as well as live entertainment and fun activities for the kids. The !Khwa ttu San Culture and Education Centre also offers a fascinating insight into the culture, heritage, knowledge and modern-day life of the San of southern Africa.
