Join Helderberg Hospice on Saturday, 19 May 2018 at Somerset House from 6am to 6pm for their annual Cycling for Life event. Teams of cyclists compete over 12 hours to clock up the most km’s raced on a stationary bike in 1 day.
This unique event symbolises the endurance with which every cancer sufferer faces their condition. By participating you are also enabling Helderberg Hospice to sustain the special care which patients receive.
Make up a team of up to 12 riders (a corporate team, a social team, or a youth/scholar team), and each of you can ride for an hour. Or if you are fitter, you can make up a team of up to 3 riders – in this case each of you would ride for 4 hours. For the very brave, a solo category has been introduced, where 1 rider completes all 12 hours alone.
Cycling for Life is a day for the whole family – there’s plenty of food and drinks on sale, big screen TV and fun activities for children. It’s a great opportunity for corporate team building and staff or scholar community service programmes. Many people ride because they have been personally touched by the special care of Helderberg Hospice. Some ride in memory of a loved one, others in solidarity with friends or family receiving treatment for cancer.
