Cycling for Life 2019 takes place on Saturday, 1 June 2019 from 06h00 – 18h00 at the Activity Centre, De Hoop Primary in Somerset West.
Sponsored teams of cyclists spin on their bikes mounted on trainers, pounding the pedals for 12 hours to raise funds for Helderberg Hospice. High-energy music sets the tone and fuels the pace, backed up by tasty food stalls, drinks and spot prizes throughout the day to boost the cyclists’ staying power.
Teams can enter into one of several categories: Solo Saddle Challenge (1 member), Challenge Team (3 members), Corporate Team (4 – 12 members), Social Team (4 – 12 members) and Youth Team (4 – 12 members).
Each team is asked to raise a minimum of R3600 entrance fee (for a team of 12 this equates to R300 per person to reach this easy target). Individuals wanting to ride for the full 12 hours are welcome to take up the Solo Saddle Challenge, at an entrance fee of R500.
The following restrictions apply to all and may not be deviated from: Road bikes: Front chain ring max 53, rear cassette min 11, Mountain bikes: Front chain ring max 44, rear cassette min 11.
Cycling for Life is a day for the whole family – there’s plenty of food and drinks on sale, big screen TV (rugby will be broadcasted) and fun activities for children.
