Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, rider for CCC-Liv has recaptured her South African Time Trial title on Thursday, 6 February 2020 in Swadini Forever Resort for the fifth time. She clocked a time of 28 minutes and 24 seconds on the 20-kilometer route, almost a minute faster than Carla Oberholzer. Parys Edwards placed third in the Elite women’s race.
Moolman-Pasio: “The plan was to get started quickly, because the road got slightly up there. Quite soon I had Carla Oberholzer in sight, she was a target point for me. After the turning point I passed her. Then I noticed that I had given quite a lot under these warm conditions. I continued to drive full throttle and am very happy with this success.”
On Saturday, 8 February Moolman-Pasio will be on the start-line of the national championship on the road to defend her South African title.
Frances Janse van Rensburg, rider for Absolute Motion was crowned SA’s U23 Women’s Time Trial Champion with an incredible performance, coming third overall, finishing 2 minutes and 17 seconds behind Moolman Pasio.
